The consistency of change-The ballad of growth.

We watch a little girl walk away,
Disappear into the dark.
The last hint of her chubby calves,
grows into but a veil of winter's scarf.

The newness of hope tries to outdo
the oldness of nostalgia surrounding you.
You,who took my hand and lead me here,
A simple affair,but a great big deal.

My world has changed, shifted it's bounds,
Broken by people, and by very people rejoined.
The girl we watch,it's you,it's I-
Walking into a difficult goodbye.

Walking into newer joys and pains,
Souls reverberating with sadness and hope,
From  love to hate, and hate to love-
We watch each other grow,oh oh.

Into our hearts,we're disappearing,
Halfway there and yet,halfway not.
Somewhere in between-
It's the best place to be.

Going Steady.

Last night,I heard my heart beat in time with another pounding heart.
Like a trapped bird against a steely cage.Waiting to fly away.
Breathing in the milk baby smell,so close to my sandpaper lips.
My thoughts couldn’t contain the words unspoken,
And  mind couldn’t hold back the gush of overbearing emotion.
I sat up,blanket draped over my shoulders.
I’d been dreaming,again.
Dreaming of the promise of a future.
Wishful thinking or blissful ignorance.
Last night,I met love and happiness on their shores again.

Coke floats and rainy roads.

Acts like Summer..
Our dreams are as passionate as the swirls of icing on redvelvetcupcakes. As intricately spun as trims of lace.
Or perhaps, the flimsy idea of dreams we carry on for our entire life.Living the old lie of a life.
A constant sleet of heavy downpour.
We sit facing our coke floats, delighting in the creamy forthiness of vanilla ice-cream dissipating into soda.
"Almost like whipped cream" we nod in agreement. We're just being teeangers-laughter sprinigng seamlessly out of heads tilted back.
Accompanied by constant morsels of quips wrapped in the mental broth of our ecstacy.
"Love will make you learn things you don't intend to." She says "I'll wait for love to make him to do it,too or instead." I add earnestly.
We add witty remarks to are lush conversation. And run to the sidewalk before a passing car can splash us with muddy puddle water.A joviality where each little word and act seems funny.
And the goodness of mere coke-floats is a bliss. And stepping into inch deep puddles doesn't make us squirm.
An immortal day,one of those that never dies down in spirit-not even with the dying sun.The afternoon is forever young, true to it's spirit of youth.
The delicacy of  a few friendships is nothing short of magical.
It's our time to SHINE.

Moment of the day.

There's this one blogger who posts about profound moments she encounters each day.
And it insipred me to do at least one post about a profound moment.
This happened last night,but yeah,whatever.
We were just another bunch of teenagers overjoyed by the fact that we had licorice sticks (candy.yeay.) on a long distance car ride to watch a cricket match.and feeling that warm, fuzzy feeling inside my chest, that fills me with contentment at the sight of the blinding floodlights,an indication that we were nearing the stadium.I feel that way each time I see floodlights. And the cheer of the crowd, like one of my friends puts it,is like music to your ears when you are an enthusiast and you can listen to the wild screams before you even enter a world away from reality. The crowd,it gives you the same feeling of insignificance that you get under a starry sky.
And it got way too late on the way back home, much past midnight..but our enthusiasm had not yet been washed out.we were a bunch of ecstatic kids pulling faces at the supporters of the opponent team, while they walked defeated on the dark streets the depression of loss looming over their colourful wigs and painted faces. If you saw them, you'd think  they were oppressed Jews from a concentration camp in Nazi Germany.
And the ride back home on an almost empty street,we saw the lake, lit up by the reflection of the city lights..tall reflections, that late at night.and the pristine Buddha statue standing right at the center, lit up by pretty blue lights.Solitary on a Sunday night.
The very sight put us all into a reflective daze, expressing our love for the city and how perfect it will always seem in our minds, and how we all wished we'd never have to move away elsewhere. If only the colleges around were good enough.
It got all very nostalgic and quiet, till someone said something funny again.
It's funny how my most profound moments take place in cars, though.
